I’m Dr Sue Tate – a freelance art historian and Research Fellow at the University of the West of England, Bristol UK.  My focus is on women artists past and present with particular research into women Pop artists – with Pauline Boty (British Pop artist) as my main case study.

More broadly I am motivated to understand the reasons for the exclusion of women artists from, or marginalisation  in, culture.  How does the gendering of the art scene happen? Can I use this site to contribute to shifting that culture by bringing attention to living artists, women curators, feminist art activism and to returning past artists to the story of art?

My book, Pauline Boty: Pop Artist and Woman, was published in 2013. You can buy it on Amazon or eBay.
